Services We Provide

As one of the Buffalo area’s resources for quality dental care, Granite Pass Dental provides a wide range of dental services to maintain or restore oral health. While we work to offer top-of-the-line treatments to fix existing problems, we also focus on preventative strategies to avoid need for treatment in the future. Let's work together to make a personal plan for you to get looking and feeling your best.

Preventative Exams and Cleanings

In order to maintain good oral and dental health, it is important to have regular dental exams and teeth cleanings. These appointments are important for patients of every age to help prevent and catch cavities before they get too large. During your visit, we will remove any tartar or plaque buildup from your teeth. This aids in cavity protection. In addition, throughout your cleaning, we will check for any signs of gum disease, irregularities, and signs of oral cancer. Your cleaning concludes with flossing and polishing of your teeth.

Periodontal Deep Cleanings

Because your gums and bone provide the foundation for your teeth, it is important to keep them in good health. Your gums and bone levels will be examined during your routine exams. When your gums are not healthy from a build up of tartar and bacteria, it can cause greater problems for not only your oral health, but your overall health. Bacteria found in your mouth produce irritants that cause your bone and gums to become inflamed. Over time, your bone recedes from those irritants causing pockets and tooth mobility. For these deep cleanings, the areas will be numbed for comfort so we can clean these irritants out of your mouth.

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal, or endodontic therapy, is necessary if a cavity has reached the pulp or nerve of a tooth. Severe trauma to a tooth may also be a reason a root canal is necessary. Some symptoms that could indicate that a root canal is necessary are prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold or a throbbing pain. A root canal involves cleaning out and disinfecting the interior of a tooth and removing the infected nerve. The canals are then sealed to prevent future bacterial invasion. Finally, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling. This restores the tooth to normal strength and function.

Tooth Extraction

Tooth extractions are routine dental procedures used to remove decayed, damaged or otherwise problematic teeth. We usually make every effort to preserve natural teeth, but sometimes an extraction is necessary. Depending on which teeth are removed, they may be replaced with a dental implant or another oral prosthetic.
Wisdom teeth can become problematic for many people because they are hard to clean, may cause pain, and may crowd and move other teeth. Dr. Haskell can extract wisdom teeth on a case-by-case basis depending on surgical complexity and patient comfort.

Dentures

Dentures provide a great restorative option for individuals missing some of or all of their teeth. Replacing your old teeth is very important. For patients who retain some of their natural teeth, a set of partial dentures may be recommended. Both dentures and partial dentures are designed to enhance your smile and are made to look like your natural teeth. A set of full dentures may even give you a better smile than you had before! We work with each patient to determine which restoration option fits their dental health needs.

Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are custom-fitted tooth prosthetics that are used to replace or restore damaged or missing teeth. Crowns are anchored on surfaces of natural tooth structures or dental implants. Bridges are used to fill the gaps of missing teeth. A bridge consists of crowns anchored in place by the natural teeth on either side of the empty space. Choosing a crown or a bridge to restore your smile will help achieve both the function and appearance of natural, healthy teeth.

Nitrous Oxide

At Granite Pass Dental, we understand that dental appointments can be stressful and provoke anxiety. We offer nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, to help calm you down and make your experience as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Nitrous oxide is very safe and can be used on almost all children and adults. After breathing the nitrous oxide during treatment, we simply let you breathe 100% oxygen for 5 minutes to get the nitrous out of your system. Ask us if nitrous oxide is a good treatment option for you.

Implants

Many dentists and patients prefer dental implants because they offer the same function as natural teeth and also help prevent bone atrophy in the jaw. Dental implants are surgical-grade root devices used to support permanent tooth prosthetics that are manufactured to last a lifetime. These artificial roots are anchored in the bone beneath the gums where they become fused into the jaw. Once fused into the jaw, implants can be used as a solid foundation for single crowns, a bridge, removable dentures or fixed dentures.
